Modern Vision, Personal Touch: A Collaborative Home Transformation
In a neighborhood where curb appeal matters and thoughtful design stands out, we had the pleasure of partnering with a homeowner who approached their renovation with clarity, confidence, and a deeply personal vision. Without enlisting an interior designer, the client chose to lead the aesthetic direction themselves—hand-selecting every finish and detail. Our role was to support that independence with structure, providing a comprehensive roadmap of all the design decisions that would need to be made along the way.

The centerpiece of this transformation was a bold two-story addition in the backyard. On the ground floor, we created a tranquil new primary bedroom that opens up to the garden, offering privacy and peace. Above, a full-floor entertainment room became the client’s playground for immersive sound and visual experience. A passionate home audio enthusiast, the client worked closely with our network of AV specialists to fine-tune the room’s acoustics and layout for the ultimate in-home performance.

Throughout the home, intentional design choices elevate functionality with a clean, modern edge. We installed sleek black vinyl bifold doors that align with the existing black window frames—ensuring visual continuity while maximizing natural light and indoor-outdoor flow. For clients working within a budget, we often advise investing in windows that meet the neighborhood’s quality standard. It’s a subtle but powerful way to enhance resale value and curb appeal.

Inside the primary bathroom, we applied hand-troweled Venetian plaster, adding a luxurious, tactile quality that softens the space and invites calm. In the primary bedroom, we designed and built a custom bookcase with integrated LED lighting—a feature that seamlessly blends practicality with ambience. These small but thoughtful touches make everyday moments feel special.

Upstairs, the entertainment room makes a statement with a custom white oak wood slat wall that frames the television like a piece of art. The wood adds warmth and texture to the space while housing all the necessary wiring for a clean, streamlined look.
Continuing the theme of craftsmanship, we built custom white oak cabinets in the kitchen. The design includes matching oak paneling that cleverly conceals a 48” Sub Zero refrigerator, transforming a large appliance into a cohesive part of the room’s aesthetic.

What made this project truly special wasn’t just the materials or the layout—it was the collaboration. The client came to the table with clear preferences, and we brought the technical expertise to bring their ideas to life without compromise. It was a partnership built on trust, creativity, and a shared desire to create something truly personal.

The end result is a home that reflects not only a modern design sensibility, but also the character and lifestyle of the people who live there. Every decision was intentional. Every detail tells a story. And in the end, what we built wasn’t just an addition—it was an evolution of how a home can feel when it’s shaped by passion and made with care.
